There is much more to servicing a modern car than simply giving it a "grease and oil change." The old $35 grease and oil might have passed muster a decade ago but is in most cases insufficient attention for a new car with its many sophisticated systems. A vehicle service including an engine oil and filter change is vital for your cars health, and needs to be performed on time, every time, if you want your car to run smoothly, efficiently, reliably and safely.

Cost
The cost of a service (including oil and filter change) can range anywhere from $275 + depending on vehicle / fuel type and how in-depth of a service you require. Compare this to the cost of an engine which is $5000+! We accept Afterpay help ease the pressure.
What is a Service
A service does vary a bit between vehicle makes and models and we have descriptions on what we do below. Services include an Oil and Oil Filter change and a 1 hour check over of important components like cooling system, brakes, tyres etc and top up of fluids. Oil ages badly and over time it degrades and becomes thick like tar - if it gets like this the engine can seize (and we have seen several examples of this visit our workshop).

WoF vs Service
As part of a WoF we do not perform service type checks on your vehicle such as oil & water levels checks, tyre pressure checks, removal of tyres, or brake pads visual inspection. A service is maintenance of your vehicle.

Service/Replacement Intervals
There are replacement intervals or a service schedule for most components found in your vehicle. This can cover anything from air, pollen and fuel filters, to engine oil, cambelt, antifreeze and driveline fluids. For example, most manufactures recommend flushing the braking system every 2 years, regardless of distance traveled due to moisture from the air absorbing into brake fluid.
The easiest way to find out how often you should service your vehicle is to inspect the owner’s manual. There will be a section in the rear of the manual, or in a separate book, which lists all the service intervals and which service operations are required to be carried out.
If you do not have access to your vehicle’s logbook, the basic rule is every 10,000km or 6 months, whichever occurs first and at a minimum, yearly. Even if you are not doing the kilometers, it’s still important to service your car regularly. Most fluids in your vehicle are susceptible to moisture and need to be inspected and replaced at specified intervals
Just Top Up Oil?
If you simply purchase a bottle of oil and top up as required, beware as you can slowly clog up your car’s engine from the inside (like this engine above). Over time, the slow degradation of the oil lubricating properties can cause what is known as engine seizure.
