Our Journey

Toms Auto Services 2007 Ltd is proudly owned and operated by Wairarapa locals Richard and Sara Mason.

Richard and Sara took over the business in 2007 from Richard’s parents, Tom and Alison Mason, continuing a trusted local workshop legacy that began in 1977.

As five-time New Zealand Rally Champions, Richard and Sara have spent decades preparing and maintaining vehicles to perform under extreme conditions. That same attention to detail, reliability and mechanical expertise is now applied to every vehicle that comes through our workshop — from everyday family cars to 4WDs, hybrids, EVs and performance vehicles.

Today, Toms Autos operates from a modern workshop facility in the heart of Masterton, featuring:

  • Large customer parking area

  • Modern diagnostic and scan tool equipment

  • Clean, professional workshop environment

  • Easy walking access to Masterton township

  • Early drop-off and late pick-up options available

We believe quality workmanship starts with quality people. Our team includes experienced technicians with backgrounds across leading brands including Toyota, Ford and Holden, alongside specialist hybrid and EV capability.

We proudly use trusted industry brands including:
TotalEnergies, Ironman 4x4, Mickey Thompson, Rhino-Rack, Exide Batteries, Dunlop and more.

With a workshop team of 12, 5 certified WoF inspectors and decades of combined industry experience, we are proud to provide professional, reliable automotive servicing and repairs for the Wairarapa community.

Toms Auto's has been selected by Auto Super Shoppes as the premium automotive repair centre in the Wairarapa, offering quality workmanship and friendly caring customer service.

Proud to be an Auto Super Shoppe

Auto Super Shoppes Ltd was formed in 2006 by two successful automotive repairers that own and operate reputable repair workshops on Auckland's North Shore and Christchurch. Geoff Harper and David Storey shared a vision and this was to let motorists know their businesses, and those under the Auto Super Shoppe banner, had a point of difference.

Through the combined effort of industry suppliers backing the "premium service centre" philosophy, Geoff and David selected the best workshops throughout New Zealand to join the Auto Super Shoppe network.

For you as a motorist, where you see Auto Super Shoppe signage, you can be assured you will receive a broad range of quality services for a fair price.

There are now 100+ Auto Super Shoppes in the network spanning Whangarei to Invercargill consistently offering great automotive services to fantastic Auto Super Shoppe customers all over NZ.

The Shoppes are not franchises but independent general automotive repairers that have been selected to represent the Auto Super Shoppe brand.

The role of Auto Super Shoppes is to market and advertise all our members so as a motorist you can enjoy an Auto Super Shoppe experience that is consistently good and fair time after time.

Established in 1917, the Motor Trade Association (MTA) represents more than 3,800 automotive industry professionals. Every facet of the industry is covered, from general repair workshops, vehicle sales and service stations, through to repairers specialising in fields such as alternative fuels, collision repair and outdoor power equipment.

All MTA members are bound to strict criteria which means that when you use an MTA member, you can expect to receive the highest quality service. Here's a few reasons why you should look for the MTA sign when you're next choosing an automotive professional.
